October 2 & 3: Friday: 5-8 and Saturday 1-5 p.m.—Breast Cancer Awareness Tastings—It’s our annual tasting to support breast cancer awareness, research and support. The producers of each of the four featured selections donate directly from the sale of the wines to support this cause. This is your chance to purchase with a purpose. Taste and take home as many bottles as you like and help us help others. No registration required for this free tasting.

October 9: Friday: 5-8 p.m.—Special Italian Wines Tasting with Special Guest Pourers Valerie Lynch-Giroux, sales director, and Ken Dane, tri-state manager for Wine Sellers, LTD, the U.S. representatives for these Italian wines. Cooler weather is upon us and that brings back memories of our last trip to Italy. Daniel is pouring wines from our favorite Italian wine regions and can’t wait for you to sample some with him. We can’t wait to share these wines with you because, once you try them, you’ll love them as much as we do. No registration required for this free tasting.

October 10: Saturday: 1-5 p.m.—Italian Wines Tasting with Allison and Dale—Same wines as Friday night’s tasting. No registration required for this free tasting.

October 16: Friday 5-8 p.m.—W.O.W.—Wines of Washington Tasting—Guest Pourer, John Weidman of Frederick Wildman Wines. Make sure you come to this tasting and meet John. He’s an expert on Washington State wines and will WOW you, not only with the wonderful tasting wines, but with his knowledge of Washington State wines. Have you tried wines from Washington State lately? Here’s your chance. Taste four selections that’ll have you saying: “Wow, these are wonderful!” No registration required for this free tasting.

October 17: Saturday: 1-5 p.m.—W.O.W.—Wines of Washington Tasting—Same wines as Friday night’s tasting—different pourers. Have you tried wines from Washington State lately? Here’s your chance. Taste four selections that’ll have you saying: “Wow, these are wonderful!” No registration required for this free tasting.

October 21: Wednesday—Scotch Pairing Dinner at 1020 Genesee Grand—Our first-ever scotch pairing dinner and we are EXCITED! Menu, pricing and reservation details coming soon. Please do not contact the restaurant until we have more details.

October 23: Friday: 5-8 p.m.—Spooktacular Halloween Lune Chocolate and Wine Tasting—Boo! Trick or Treat! We love Halloween at The Savvy Wine Cellar and that’s why, every year right before this holiday, we have a special tasting of ghoulishly great wines with spooky labels or scary names paired with artisan chocolate from locally owned Lune Chocolat. The folks at Lune Chocolat have created four frightfully fun, spooktackulary sensational chocolates to pair with our four Halloween tasting wines. Free tasting and no registration is necessary. But get here early before all the goodies are gone!

October 24: Saturday: 1-5 p.m.—Wines for Halloween Tasting—Be ready for adult Halloween parties with four frightfully good wines. Free tasting. No registration necessary.

October 27: Tuesday: 7 p.m.—German Wines Class featuring the wines of Max Ferd Richter— The estate of Max Ferdinand Richter has been owned by the Richter family for more than 300 years. Today this enterprise, owned and run by winemaker Dirk Richter, is one of the leading producers of top Rieslings in the heart of the central Mosel area. Lowell Hutcheson represents Massanois, the distributor for these wines, and she is presenter for this class. Class is limited to 35 participants and registration is required. November 11: Wednesday, 7 p.m.—Fall Italian Cheese Pairing Class with Maria Petrulla—We are pleased to announce that Maria Petrulla, manager of the cheese department at Wegman’s Fairmount location, is guest presenter at this class. Maria has been a member of the Wegman’s team for 31 years and is very excited to share some very special Italian cheeses with us and show you how to create your own cheese plate. Only 35 spots are available for this free class and registration is required. Click here to register

November 14: Saturday 1-6 p.m.— Gigantic Fall Festival of Wines Tasting—Here we go again! Just in time for Thanksgiving, it’s our annual fantastic fall tasting. Here are the details: Four vendors each pouring four wines; tasting notes for each wine; expert information from our guest pourers; wined-paired appetizers; random prize drawing; easy checkout. Keep reading your newsletter for updates but you’d better save this date because, if you don’t, you’ll be kicking yourself on November 15!

November 17: Tuesday: 7 p.m.—Varietal Education—Portuguese Wines Seminar with Rute Goncalves of Broadbent Selections—Join us for our first-ever Portuguese wine seminar. Rute was born in Portugal and has a wealth of knowledge to share with us about the country, the wine regions and the rich Portuguese culture. And, of course, there will be delicious wines to taste. Registration for this free class is limited to 35 persons and registration is required. Click here to register.
