“The Dean’s List” Tasting

Saturday, October 4
1 to 5 p.m.

Dean Vlassis of Lauber Wines is guest pourer at The Tasting Bar Saturday, October 4, featuring four selections from his famous “Dean’s List.” Of course, we all know that a real dean’s list is comprised of students receiving special recognition from the dean of a college because of superior scholarship. But the Dean’s List we’re talking about is comprised of wines that are in superior in taste and are extremely high achievers for their price. Maybe you’ve never been on a dean’s list but the wines you bring home for your wine rack certainly candidates for our Dean’s List. Tasting Notes

October 3: Friday: 5-8 p.m.—“The Dean’s List—Preview”—Dean Vlassis of Lauber Wines won’t be here to pour on Friday night (because he’s our guest pourer on Saturday) but we’ll have the wines from his famous Dean’s List for you to try. Free tasting. No registration necessary.

October 4: Saturday 1-5 p.m.—“The Dean’s List”—Have you ever been on a dean’s list? We are at this tasting. Dean Vlassis of Lauber Wines is guest pourer and he’s bringing four A+ wines from his Dean’s List. Dean’s tastings are always fun, lively and full of great wines. Don’t miss it! Free tasting. October 8: Wednesday 7 p.m.—A Fortnight in France with Erin and Mark—If you’ve always dreamed about visiting and tasting the wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux in France, here’s your chance to learn a little about the regions and taste four delightful wines. Savvy staffer Erin Eshenour-Lesser and her husband, Mark Lesser, recently spent a fortnight (two weeks) on their honeymoon and have much to share with you about the wines from these storied regions. October 10: Friday: 5-8 p.m.— Rachel Brace of Monsieur Touton Selections Guest Pourer—One of our favorite “guest pourers” will be at The Tasting Bar with four fun and delicious wines for you! Don’t miss this one. Free tasting. No registration necessary.

October 11: Saturday: 1-5— Monsieur Touton Selections Tasting—Rachel won’t be here but we’ll be pouring her amazing wines. Free tasting. No registration necessary.

October 17 & 18: Friday 5-8; Saturday 1-5—Breast Cancer Awareness Tastings—Purchase with a purpose at these tastings. The producers of this week’s featured selections donate directly to breast cancer awareness and research from the proceeds of these selections. Free tasting. No registration necessary.

October 22: Wednesday: 7 p.m.—Fall Cheese and Wine Pairing Class—The “Cheez Whiz” is back! Erin Eshenour Lesser is on board to dazzle us with delicious cheese for fall nibbling and entertaining. If you enjoy cheese, and want to know more about pairing it with wine, then you cannot miss this class! Registration is limited to only 35 persons. Click Here to Register.

October 24: Friday 5-8: Scary Names with Spooky Labels—Taste four wines that are perfect for a frightful Halloween night (or any other). Free tasting. No registration necessary.

October 25: Saturday: 1-5—Savvy Wine Cellar Lune Chocolat Halloween Spooktacular—Trick or Treat grown-up style at this special chocolate and wine tasting. The folks at Lune Chocolat have done it again with the amazing chocolates they’ve paired with our special Halloween wines. Free tasting. No registration necessary.

October 29: Region Education Class: Italy--The wines of Piemonte—Join us as we explore, for the first time, this beautiful region and its magnificent wines. We’ll discuss the area, the culture, the food and, of course, there will be wine to sample! Class size limited to 35 persons. Registration necessary. Click here to register.


November 1: Saturday: 1-5 p.m.—Happy Birthday Allison Tasting!—It’s that time of year again, Allison’s birthday bash that means two things—Daniel Salamone at The Tasting Bar pouring wines from Martin Scott Wines and Shuffle’s-style pizza to pair with them. You know how much we love a party at The Savvy Wine Cellar and we can’t wait for you to join us. But you’d better get here early before the pizza is all gone. No registration necessary for this free tasting.

November 6: Thursday: 7 p.m.—Perfect Pasta Pairing Class—Back by popular demand, join us for a fun-filled evening of perfect pasta paired perfectly with wines to match. Registration is required and is limited to 35 persons. Click here to register.

November 12: Wednesday: 7 p.m.—Talking Turkey about Thanksgiving…Leftovers Class—What to do with all those Thanksgiving Day leftovers? Tired of eating turkey sandwiches and reheated mashed potatoes for five days in a row? Then, come to this class and we’ll help you get a little creative with leftover turkey, yams and more. November 22: Saturday: 1-6 p.m.—Fall Festival of Wines Special Tasting Event—Just in time for Thanksgiving, it’s The Savvy Wine Cellar’s spectacular fall tasting event. FIVE VENDORS each pouring FOUR SELECTIONS each with tasting notes and food pairing suggestions; wine-paired appetizers; random prize drawing. Let us take the worry out of what wines to serve for Thanksgiving. Join us and get your holiday season off to a great start. Fall just got better!
